ORBCOMM-2 First-Stage Landing

Filed under: in case you missed it.

Last week, Space X launched this one million pound rocket into space, and then successfully landed back on Earth. It’s the biggest thing to happen in relation to space all week, and that’s actually saying quite a lot.

Basically, a twenty story building making a vertical landing

Being able to land the rocket means they can reuse it. Which means they aren’t throwing away a 16 million dollar piece of equipment every time they launch. Going to space is about to get a lot cheaper.

Extended expose reveals take-off, re-entry, and landing burns.

All this makes me think; rocket science really is… like rocket science.
